Protein choice isn't just about gains as it can impact your health and longevity as well. I break down a new study linking protein type to chronic disease risk, physical function, and mental well-being as you age. I also challenge Layne Norton's interpretation of the findings - do you think Norton got it wrong?

I do hope he respondsjust shows how even people who know what they are doing can come to a different outcome. I would have respect for someone if they admit they got it wrong

It’s ok to disagree, done in a respectful way, and with data and solid evidence to back up your viewpoints. I consider both Simon and Layne good dudes in the chaotic world of nutritional social media

The variability in individual diets means that substituting one macronutrient for another does not occur in isolation. Different foods contributing to these macronutrients have their own unique profiles of micronutrients, fiber, and bioactive compounds, which can affect health outcomes. Therefore, the observed effects may be influenced by these accompanying nutrients rather than the macronutrient change alone. This complexity can confound the results and make it difficult to attribute health outcomes to specific macronutrient substitutions with certainty.

I dont think it's unreasonable to assert that the benefits of plant protein in that stufy were due to the fiber content. The study is epidemiological, so no one is "wrong." We're all spectulating, and given fibers insane benefits to health, it isn't a wild specualtion by Layne.

Clout chasing creating drama. A lot of exaggerated claims about what protein choice sling can do.

I’ve seen enough of this guys content to be pretty sure his “critique” is gonna be the standard AHA approved stance that red meat and any protein higher in saturated fats is to be avoided at all costs. Save yourself some time and don’t give this guy anymore ad revenue for regurgitation of the same crap you can read on all the government websites
