Drugs aren't only addictive because they're addictive. but also because they solve your problems.

Having just quit nicotine fully after 3 years of cigarettes followed by 4 years of just vape i can wholeheartedly say that any benefits nicotine offers, are not worth it long term or short term. Regardless of form of intake new research is starting to draw links between nicotine and chronic gastrointestinal inflammation (nic salts in particular cause this and i dealt with it personally) and the nature of how consistent nicotine use hijacks tour reward system leads to some severe issues with motivation and enjoyment of anything in life, this happens after prolonged use of course but when it comes to nicotine, it will ALWAYS be prolonged use, it's highly addictive, and though pharmacologically it seems like a relatively harmless chemical people seem to have short term memory on the fact that it is EXTREMELY PHYSICALLY ADDICTING. The withdrawals may not be as life threatening as benzodiazapine withdrawal but its effects are incredibly psychosomatic and they sure will feel that serious. I appreciate the more grounded objective look nicotine is starting to get but i feel more needs to be done in tempering people's expectations, it has uses as a nootropic but that is no excuse for everyone to just start chewing nic gum like its candy, 90% of people do not have the self control or will power to slow themselves down let alone stop completely when it comes to a substance like nicotine, and all small doses with physically addicting substances will ALWAYS lead to larger and more frequent doses. Be smart, and be safe guys, take my anecdotal experience as you wish, but i genuinely believe the difficulty in getting away from the substance is not worth whatever small short term benefits you may gain from it. Peace of mind is priceless

Yup. Especially before you get addicted and resistant, it gives a huge concentration, energy boost, and other benefits especially if you have any attention related disorders. If they could figure out how to make it non addictive, it would be great.

What I usually do is eat 20 kg of aubergines before I do my work. It has about the same amount of nicotine as that chewing gum but it's all organic.

Nicotine might help with productivity but it isn't mandatory. Everything that you can do on nicotine and caffeine, you can do without. When you regularly use it however you can get dependent on it and be unable to do what you were doing without it.

The study was done on 19 people, recieving either 7mg nicotine patches or placebos... It is by no means confirmed to affect non-smokers in any positive way. Maybe you should learn how unscientific it is to promote singular small scale studies as anything other than "further studies needed before making any claims of it's impact on humans".

I'm super weary of any research into nicotine. Easy to imagine tobacco companies funding all nicotine research and then only allowing positive results to be published.

I've never understood people that claim they have thoughts that need quieting. My thoughts are all me. If they were quiet, what the heck would I be?

There's a reason so many of the greatest novels were written by smokers. Nicotine is a neurotransmitter. A superabundance of neurotransmitter plus coffee equal great concentration and productivity.

Can people stop acting like if you have any amount of nicotine you will get hooked? It’s just like anything else. Use it with a plan in place and responsibly

Getting addicted to nicotine is not worth it . And if you try it once you will be hooked ! So do not make that mistake
