quick tip: DON'T use your fingers. the crayon is really hard to get off your fingers and because of friction it may also start hurting after a while. don't ask why i know this 🥲

As a kid, we would do this with all the colors, scratch them off, then cover it with black, then scratch words or doodles onto the black to show the rainbow underneath! Ah good times

My dad did this for one of his art projects in high school. They told him he couldn’t use crayons and needed to use colored pencils. They couldn’t tell the difference when he was done and made a perfect grade

I used to make Christmas cards for everyone when I was in elementary school. I would use crayons but those things leave a stain on the opposing side.

I hate crayon texture for coloring, as it's just not satisfying whatsoever, but I had a phase where I loved sketching with crayons. Probably third favorite sketching tool being pens and pencils

When I was younger and used those oil pastels, I used to colour on a stack of cloths or newspapers and just colour hard. Blend everything smoothly with some tissue or paper towels and tada, super smooth blend!

I feel like most everyone knows this. At least if you grew up coloring at all. It's like a developmental milestone you go through as you get older.

You can get a much better result. Use colored pencils to blend the wax in a lighter or darker shade. You get a beautiful shiny finish and a beautiful layering of color shades.
