Not to disagree with someone with a PhD in this stuff who makes a living teaching and writing on this very topic but--isn't this explanation actually, if not wrong, misleading? It's not the curved spacetime strictly speaking which causes the orbit, it's gravity and velocity. Am I wrong about this? Sorry Janna, I'm probably wrong.

The curvature of space is described by the arc of a photon. Other arcs are caused by slower moving objects.
