I had a bad habit of jumping straight to advice and trying to fix people's problems. Now i just ask 'do you want advice or do you just want me to listen?' Most of the time it seems people just want you to listen, and that's often all the help they needed.

I looove getting advice. If someone knows more than I do... Why shouldn't I listen? That will only hurt me in the end, maybe I'm missing out on a good solution for a problem.

I can't follow this in the least. He's violating his ostensible own precept by coming-on loud and fast with desperate advice that is so far off-base, it's not-even logically-intelligible.
If I could be sure he was only saying for outside observers not to startle the people they were observing, with strange admonitions, before they even could have been sure their own suspicions even were true or reasonably close to being true--.
I could give him at least "partial-credit--;" but as he has stated his case--; he's already imputing-error also to the "target" of the unsolicited advice even after already implying that the target of the advice actually at least might, know what they were doing--.
