I've been there on all sides that he's talking about. Esspecially with the "give them another chance to prove or show up." Fun fact, they almost never do that.
Don't hesitate, and if they aren't showing up, just move on quickly and don't waste the time and energy.
Ryan's got some solid points here.
Again, don't think about everyone's feelings, dont give too many chances, and focus on the performers and people that are there for building themselves and the company. You'll know quickly and move on from everyone else.
