That's an awesome trick! The way I work around it (note I'm ADHD) I start speaking my random thoughts about the project into a text document on my phone so that I can just get the thought started and then I pasted it into a word document and go from there. Getting started is always the hardest part. Thanks for all you do

Yes I love this! I kind of do this too when making to-do lists, I write something I’ve already done and cross it off. It just feels better that way.

"I've only forgotten to remove it twice in my entire life" is actually my favorite part of this video. It's an overshare, which I chronically do as well. God bless you, woman, for your unapologetic openness. I adore you for it. Wishing you all the best!

I'm a science writer and the good thing about that is there's a set format. I can use that outline and just start to color in between the lines. I can't imagine writing fiction or something "freestyle". It would be so tough with my ADHD.

I love this! I would add a second paragraph "DON'T FORGET TO DELETE THE BEGINNING!!!" and then start composing between them, so you can forget BOTH notes to self! Lol

This is actually brilliant. Less pressure since you're not staring at a blank document and kind of motivating (with a dash of reality thrown in). I love it!

I’m in the process of starting a business, and being a beginner is definitely bringing up insecurities. Thanks for the reminder that I’ve taken the most courageous step by beginning. I’ll remind myself of this. Also, as a former college instructor, I can assure you that you brightened your professors’ days when you accidentally left those sentences in.

Damn, I really needed to hear this today. I struggle so much with executive dysfunction, and this thought was able to get me up and moving. Thank you!

This amazing advice and a very similar practice to some artists at the start of their canvases. Few will often splatter paint or make random imprints or strokes around the canvas. It gets past the idea of a "perfect" start and now it's much easier to make the next brushes and strokes.

This is actually such a great idea—I’m going to use this (and probably forget to remove it)

In high school, my AP Lit teacher said for timed essays, the middle sentences of our intro paragraph could be full of fluff and yammering on for words, so long as it helped us eventually form our argument. Of course, perfectly articulate and efficient sentences were preferred. However, if it was between sitting n wasting time agonizing versus just writing the damn thing and getting on a roll, always start it!
