Untouchablity is a crime in India now, but it could still be seen in very rare cases in interior villages, which has mostly illiterate people. But the inclination towards lighter skin is still quite prevalent and has nothing to do with untouchablity.

Colourism in south Asian countries is very big, considering how almost the majority are dark skinned. I grew up getting bullied in school for simple reason of having a dark skin, and my skin wasn’t even that dark. I absolutely hate it and feel so bad for anyone going through it
