We were brought up to be respectful but we were taught to think for ourselves.

Notice how much more concisely and calmly they speak. Our educational system cooked our brains by design.

I'm 71 and remember that sentiment regarding not questioning Authority. I was raised to question Authority anyway - to question everything.

There was a popular bumper sticker in the late sixties/early seventies that stated "Question Authority". I haven't seen it around in many years.

Exactly! If I got in trouble at school, the teacher would inform my parents then God have mercy on you when you got home.

Absolutely true! I was born in 1959...you never would even dream of questioning anyone above the age of 20 as a kid. We never thought for one second that we would ever be lied to by anyone that was considered to be in a leadership position. From our teachers to the President. It was unimaginable. That is because we were brought up that way. If you did question it you were labeled as a trouble maker. Then as an adult we carried those traits with us. All through the Vietnam war till now with some of us older people. It took me till I was 58 years old to realize that yes...leaders will lie to us. That they will use the media to peddle those lies. I voted for their worst nightmare two times and will proudly do it again!

The hippie movement changed this way of thinking. Wanted peace love ❤️ and happiness helped others so on. The government helped us to open our eyes with the war in Vietnam. We had no business being there and didn’t want to be there. The draft was terrible and the men had no choice, get home and they were called baby killers. Still today they are treated like sh!+. Not right! My dad was there and he is not a baby killer and never was.

My dad was in the Vietnam war. I was brought up somewhat knowing the government wasn't looking out for us. As I hit adulthood and saw everybody getting respect for joining the military, knowing what the war machine is up to, made me feel less of an American. So I'm glad to see that more are opening their eyes to what the kids of Vietnam vets already know. It gives me hope for America that we see the true enemy is not outside our borders, they're the ones demanding 30% of our paycheck. What happens when we all get together and say you can't have my money anymore because you are the enemy?
