Excellent points; may I add, about beans: 1 can ALSO has 35% of daily iron!&Good amount of calcium, too. And on nuts/seeds, I love raw almonds' taste; they have lots of fiber, protein..very decent amounts of iron and calcium..and a whopping 50% of DV of Vitamin E(for just 24 nuts)and 30% DV for copper&manganese, says package I'm looking at..remarkable. Just wanted to put these other advantages, out there. Vegan here..for ~ 30 years, and it's been the best diet decision I've ever made(also whole-foods, not highly processed) I do supplement with B-12 but even meat/dairy-eaters should, too, say experts.
