Are you tired of living in a messy house? It's not just the mess that's the problem—it's how it affects your mental state. Your home should be a peaceful place, but if it isn't, you're probably feeling stressed and overwhelmed.
So how can you get on top of things and make your home feel like a sanctuary again? We asked members of our community what keeps their homes tidy and organized, so we could share their secrets with you.
Here are 9 habits they said keep them organized!
There is no such thing as a perfect home.
But there are ways you can keep your home tidy and organized, even if you're busy, overwhelmed, or just plain lazy.
1) Donate unwanted items on a regular basis. Donating things you don't use will help make room for new things in the future. Don't hold onto something just because it cost money! It's not worth it.
2) Weekly fridge cleaning. Cleaning out the fridge weekly makes sure that it stays fresh and free from rotting food that could contaminate other foods in there. And when you're done with all that? Wipe down the shelves too!
3) Make the bed daily. You don't have to make your bed every day—just try to do it every day, even if only for a few minutes each morning before work or school starts up again. It helps get your day off to a good start!
4) Frequently wipe down surfaces. Whether they're counters or tables or door handles—they're all germ-infested and need some attention every once in awhile! You don't have time.
5. Keep a trash can in every room in the house, plus one outside for recycling/trash that doesn't fit in any of those other containers (this way you never have to go far to throw something out).
6. Use a lint roller on furniture regularly because dust bunnies are gross!
7. Keep a small trash bag in your purse or car at all times so if you find yourself needing to take something out of your car (like gum wrappers), you can do so quickly and easily instead of having to wait until you get home or go somewhere else first!
8. Have a cleaning schedule that allows for time each day or week for cleaning specific rooms/areas (i.e., kitchen on Mondays; bathroom on Tuesdays etc...). You could even break these down further into smaller
