Here's some more information about Jason Everman from his Wikipedia page about what he did after leaving Nirvana and Soundgarden; He later served tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan with the U.S. Army as an Army Ranger and Green Beret. As of May 2017, Everman plays the guitar in a military veteran band called Silence & Light.

The Duran Duran member pictured isn’t the departed bass player, it’s their drummer, Roger Taylor (no relation to his namesake and fellow drummer), who continued playing throughout and beyond the band’s peak success.

Maybe Paul D'amour from Tool? They were fairly famous after their first album but went really big just after he left with Ænima

Tim Staffell the basis and leader vocalist for the band “smile”, walked out minutes before a new vocalist approached the band called Freddie Mercury. The band rename itself to queen. Tim went on to become a successful production carpenter in television film and theatre, eventually building the first and second Thomas the Tank Engine after he set fire to the first one. His last before retirement, was the Production carpentry teacher at my university. Very nice man

There is also Tim Staffell, who was the vocalist and bassist for smile, alongside Brian May and Roger Taylor, the Band then changed names to Queen after Staffell got out and got the legendary Freddie Mercury and John Deacon

I would say the corpse paint and Mayhem were a teaser for Necrobutcher's bass tone, but that would suggest you can even hear the bass, let alone isolate it to hear the tone.

Uh… no. Matlock left AFTER the Pistols became famous in the UK and the band only existed for 18 months without him. By the time they really made it big there was no band anymore. He also rejoined for every reunion tour they did.

For Soundgarden you could have also included Hiro Yamamoto. He left just a bit before their breakthrough album Badmotorfinger came out.

Jesse Lacey left Taking Back Sunday to form Brand New before they recorded their first album. This sparked one of the most infamous beefs in emo

Mark Stone, Van Halen. Mammoth/Van Halen, 72 to 74. They released their first album 4 years later, but the band was growing in popularity and Stone felt he couldn't keep up with the demands of their schedule.

Amazingly... Geddy Lee wasn't the original bass player in Rush. There was an early version of the band that lasted for just one show with a bassist called Jeff Jones who did have a reasonably good career of his own afterwards. Neil Peart wasn't their first drummer either, although the classic Lee/Lifeson/Peart lineup has been on all the recordings.
