I'm thinking that the fermented pulp and liquid that you drained off would be great to water a compost pile. πŸ™‚

Seed starting shelves become seed saving shelves 😊

I did this with romas this year. Made pasta sauce so I was taking the seeds out anyway. May as well keep them πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

I have to laugh because my husband keeps telling me I need to do something with all these seeds I have everywhere. I save the meat trays from the grocery store and lay my seeds on them and have them all in my kitchen drying. I definitely need to do something with mine. I do mine likes yours as well. Im so glad you put this clip up for those who have no clue about saving them.

PLEASE, Don't be so modest in this seed saving video, as you easily had 121,000 seeds.

I followed your tutorial (from like 10 years ago), and saved about 200 of my very own MI Gardener tomato seeds. I had such a wonderful harvest I had to save some. Gave some to my neighbor too!

No forced air circulation? How do you keep them from getting moldy while they sit there in clumps?

Did you ferment the pulp? I've always done that but I'm reading now it's not necessary. My understanding is that fermenting can reduce the likelihood of passing on diseases and other issues through the seeds.

I put mine in a bowl with water, and covered in saran wrap with a few holes for a couple of days. I also rinse them out in a strainer. Completely unnecessary, but is how I have always done it, and it is how I will always do it.

Congratulations on saving that many seeds, but how did you remove all of them? Did you just crush up a bunch of tomatoes?

That settles it. This is how the pros do it!

Should’ve used pulp juice to amend soil ✌️😎

Thank you for sharing this. I’ve been gardening for a few years now, but my prior seed saving was a failure, I think because of the type of seeds I attempted. Anyway, going to try again before this season ends.
