The CEO of cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike apologized on Friday after a major tech outage affected industries ranging from airlines to banking and healthcare worldwide.
Writing on X, George Kurtz said the incident was “not a security or cyber incident,” adding that the issue was identified and a fix was being deployed.
Timelapse footage collected by Flightradar24 shows passenger flights across the United States from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. CDT Friday morning.
By Friday afternoon, over 30,000 flights were delayed and more than 3,000 canceled across the country, according to the tracking site FlightAware.
Delta Airlines said the outage “necessitated a pause” in their global flight schedule on Friday morning and issued a travel waiver for all customers traveling on Friday.
