We can also be so depleted, that even common life events can traumatize us to the point of PTSD. Long covid, the post viral disease, devastated me mentally and physically to the point where I now have flashbacks seemingly based on any sense of rising pain, or, the innocuous slice of sunshine that used to cause me searing pain.

I can relate to this. I don't really remember what happened in a clear memory of getting abandoned by my classmates in a class. But I have these frequent dreams sometimes of facing my bully that now overtime it seems I can stand up to my ground once facing her in a dream. I do hope one day, when I am ready to face the truth of my trauma, I can be forgiving and loving to myself and finally heal from it.

How in the heck does "the world isn't so bad" follow from trauma? Especially when you look around and, EVERYONE is traumatized, nobody actually wants to be alive, and we're all just surviving for the sake of everyone else? At some point, the emperor has no clothes. And in the meantime, the fact that all of our lives are awful does not make me think the world is okay and it's going to be all right. Has anyone in Western society EVER been all right? So why would I be the first?
