Full Film:    • How to Overcome Trauma

A great many of us have - in one way or another - been traumatised somewhere in our past. Not only have we suffered greatly, we are likely not to have been able properly to process and digest what we have gone through. A key feature of a good life is a capacity to look our trauma in the eye; and ensure that the future can be a whole lot more hopeful than the past.

“Psychological trauma can be defined as a negative event so overwhelming that we cannot properly understand, process or move on from it – but, and this is the devilish aspect to it, nor can we properly remember it or reflect upon its nature and its effects on us. It is lodged within us but remains hidden from us, making its presence known only via symptoms and pains, altering our sense of reality without alerting us to its devilish subterranean operations.”

Overcoming trauma involves acknowledging feelings and seeking support. Self-care, therapy, and self-compassion aid healing. It's a gradual process, and seeking help is okay.

We can also be so depleted, that even common life events can traumatize us to the point of PTSD. Long covid, the post viral disease, devastated me mentally and physically to the point where I now have flashbacks seemingly based on any sense of rising pain, or, the innocuous slice of sunshine that used to cause me searing pain.

Mind-broadening… I really related… Up until now I even couldn’t grasp the fact that I actually see the world as a dread-filled place… This short gives meaning to my struggles… I also wrote it down word by word to share it with friends. Many thanks to everybody who contributed 🎉❤

Excellent, as always. Thank you. This is a very concise description and explanation of a very complex subject. Brilliant. I wrote it down word for word and am going to share it with my therapist at my next appointment. Again, thank you. : )

I can relate to this. I don't really remember what happened in a clear memory of getting abandoned by my classmates in a class. But I have these frequent dreams sometimes of facing my bully that now overtime it seems I can stand up to my ground once facing her in a dream. I do hope one day, when I am ready to face the truth of my trauma, I can be forgiving and loving to myself and finally heal from it.

Just because someone in your family is successful doesn’t mean that you’re entitled to what they have they can help you to an extent, but you can’t take advantage of them simply because they have resources

I have learned that it’s both based on truth and perception … the world being wicked. It can be less wicked if you choose to see it as such

So "as usual" you don't actually tell us how to overcome trauma. But just remind us that were traumatized. Already knew that! Where is the part where you move onto telling us how to heal it? Bored of all these clickbaits.

How in the heck does "the world isn't so bad" follow from trauma? Especially when you look around and, EVERYONE is traumatized, nobody actually wants to be alive, and we're all just surviving for the sake of everyone else? At some point, the emperor has no clothes. And in the meantime, the fact that all of our lives are awful does not make me think the world is okay and it's going to be all right. Has anyone in Western society EVER been all right? So why would I be the first?
