A few weeks ago, I had a patient’s daughter literally yell at me the moment she walked in, however our conversation ended w a nice warm hug.
Patients are sick and families are stressed. People aren’t the best versions of themselves in such situations. Understanding this has been suuuper helpful while building a rapport w patients and their family.
Some interactions have a warm ending, some don’t. But sometimes, all it takes is one “thank you for everything you do, doc” to make my whole day.
What’s the sweetest thing a patient/family has told you?
