It'll be hazy again in a week if you don't put a UV protection layer!!!

Good way to Restore light is with 1500 sand paper like you did and spray clear coat same clear coat you use for paint can be used for head lights hope you try it out 🎉

Stop at the 1800 grit and use a clear coat spray on it. Theres kits out there that will last a year +. But without that clear spray, they will yellow again real quick.

Take 600 grit wet . Wipe it dry treat with denatured alcohol . Paint with a high-quality plastic bonding clear coat . You're good for another 5 + years .

Now all you gotta do is re-clear them and they’ll look brand new

Try offbug spray first..trust me! Every factory light has a thin coat of uv protectant on it..use some off first trust me it works..unless you plan to clear them after your buff.

Just did a headlight restoration, used a 5” orbital sander 320-400-600-800-1000-1200-1500-2000-3000, meguiars cutting compound, then a nice polish and then ceramic coating. I found doing it that way gave me the best results!

Wet sand with 800 and shoot them with 2k clear. Takes half the time and comes out twice as good.

Something to mention here. Most of the 1st generation dodge viper parts were outsourced from other manufacturers, including the headlights. You can actually find dodge viper headlights for around $200 or so by just searching bmw z1 headlights

He should spray a layer of clear coat on after sanding. If you sand and spray clear it should be like new if it’s not hazy inside the headlight.

Ya need to just try some " Deep woods OFF " you'd be surprised how well it works.

The headlamps for my car cost "only" $200 each. Good demonstration, I am glad that you saved the money. That is criminal for molded plastic headlamps, My buddy just changed one on his Cadillac and it was $1900. These companies are worse than the thugs that push a pistol in your face and take your wallet.

When you wet sand use a rag to constantly stream water over your work surface if not the little pieces are just going to gum up your sand paper and cause deeper unnecessary scratches that will need to be addressed later on down the line. I worked in a body shop for awhile we always just used a hose with the nozzle on mist setting, keeps the surface wet and "clean" while still allowing you to see the layer of paint or finish you're polishing
