I realize this is a skit, but I have anxiety disorder as well. These types of scenarios do make it very difficult to socialize. And avoiding social situations can actually make it more difficult to cope with this condition long-term. Having a panic attack in public literally feels like your dying.
If this were a real situation, I would suggest giving that person more time to order without putting them on the spot. Find an excuse to step away that isn’t connected to them directly. Working with the public is very difficult, but a little patience and compassion in these scenarios can go a long way.

I understand both sides of this. I am a cook but got cross trained on the floor and am significantly more comfortable than i once was talking to strangers. But i have really severe social anxiety, and went in for a recent stage shaking so badly i could barely dice an onion.
I think in this circumstances, what i wish i could say is "Hey man, i get it, ive got the stranger danger panic myself. It's all good man, i swear I'll be right back, and it'll give you a chance to take a breath and pick what you really want. I wouldn't want you to pick just whatever cause i happen to be standing here." Winning smile, and on to the next table

While its annoying to have someone who doesnt know what they want and you got other tables to deal with/other things to deal with... This one is a little mean.
Panic attacks are not funny.
Yes this is an inconvenient situation for the server/person with them.
But someone having a mental break down over something small (like ordering food) is a pretty awful thing for that person. I speak as someone who has had panic attacks myself.
It makes you feel awful. An inconvenience. That youre better off staying in your room than risking going out with the ones you love and possibly embarrassing them. That you are broken and people are judging you. That it would just be easier if you didnt exist.
Again, yes, this is an inconvenience for the server. I agree. But instead of wanting to belittle them or make a joke about them it is maybe a wiser thing to consider the idea of a more comforting option. Encouraging them again that it is okay to take a moment, offer a suggestion on what you think is a tasty dish.
Anything other than thinking that this person should indeed give into their possible thoughts of how they should not leave the house.

Actually this happens to many people with social anxiety
I have seen it happen in a restaurant...the waiter was kind, he suggested the chef's special...and the guy, asked, "Will it be good ?"
The waiter assured him that its good, also, since he can't decide, he should just order this...new experience...
And that's it... that's the perfect response

Anxiety lock! happens to me all the time.
Depends on menu but a super fast fix is the narrow it down in 3's rule.
Examples: Ask "Beef, Chicken or Fish" Then narrow that down with saying "Our customers come back for=" New York Strip w Rosemary Garlic"; "Lemon Pepper Mahi-Mahi" or "ooooh "Chicken Bacon BBQ burger" nod your head when you see their expression turn positive.
You'll be surprised how FAST they will snap back!

This one is mean and beneath you. I have a child that struggles with social anxiety. We will study the menu ahead of time and have everything picked out, but it can still be difficult. Someone who reacted the way the server did in this skit would have serious repercussions for my child. Do you think someone chooses to have panic attacks? Knowing that this can happen and yet still trying to get outside of the house takes courage. A reaction like this would set us back MONTHS and make the next experience even more difficult. Hard disagree on this one. Agreeing with the person who said, " This one ain't it. Delete it."

This was a bad take man. I was a waiter and bartender for years and i resonate a lot with these skits but this one was a loss. If it was someone who didnt care that they were wasting your time, this would have been funny. Folks we need to have a bit of compassion, even if we dont understand what others are going through
