I was a Mormon for short time. I was homeless for a year and my uncle offered his play for three months while I saved money from my new job. Part of the deal was, I would get baptized Mormon and go to church every Sunday. Which in our ward involved a 4 hour period of preaching and classes.
One of the things that turned me off - after I left the faith - was finding out that blacks were not allowed to hold a position in the church until 1978. That's not that long ago by any standard. Later, I found out about what was said in this video about Brigham Young's opinion of the African American race. Thanks to the Bible, Catholicism and Mormonism, I am an atheist.

Most members of my Ward are dark skinned. I have NEVER sustained Bro Brigham. That makes me apostate. President Kimball changed call that. But polygamists are different from LDS. Still, many LDS still believe this false idea.

I am olive skinned Raised in a mormon community. I have been told several times that my dark skin was a sign of myself not being pure and I deserved trials in my life.
