In therapy I use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systems Theory, positive psychology, and a bio-psycho-social approach to treating mental illness and other challenges we all face in life. The ideas from my videos are frequently adapted from multiple sources. Many of them come from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, especially the work of Steven Hayes, Jason Luoma, and Russ Harris. The sections on stress and the mind-body connection derive from the work of Stephen Porges (the Polyvagal theory), Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing) Francine Shapiro (EMDR), and Bessel Van Der Kolk. I also rely heavily on the work of the Arbinger institute for my overall understanding of our ability to choose our life's direction.
And deeper than all of that, the Gospel of Jesus Christ orients my personal worldview and sense of security, peace, hope, and love www.churchofjesuschrist.org/comeuntochrist/believe

I struggled with this for so long! I was terrified that if I told anyone, they would say I was crazy and separate me from my baby. I know it’s illogical but when you’re in that state, you’re not thinking logically.

So glad you are going to address this Emma . Am a much older woman now but still remember the distress of that anxiety after having my children nearly 30yrs ago. I was a midwife but it certainly was not addressed then or now 🙏❤️

Nope, took me 3 kids and 10 years to realize I had post partum anxiety with my first 2. Doctors and family missed it too. Look out for yourself! If you feel off, who cares what the name is...say something to your doctor. Help them become aware that this is so common and can be debilitating just like depression.

I experienced huge anxiety after my first child. We had no one in our life at that time who had babies or small children, and family was far away. Seven years later, we had our second child, and had a huge support system at that time. Night and day! There is usually anxiety after a life changing event such as birth, but having day to day support I found is the key.

This is sooooo true. They let these women go home, so in the dark, about what they’re feeling, and terrified of the horrible thoughts they have, and they start to be afraid to even touch their own babies. This awareness is so needed so women can heal sooner, instead of fear being a contributing factor, and making things worse. Postpartum is a very multifaceted condition, and needs to be treated with love and understanding on how this can affect a new momma’s mindset. Thank you for addressing this very common condition, that can ruin a woman’s ability to enjoy motherhood.

When my little girl was born (1984) I didn’t know I was going through this when, my husband came home from work and told me that the house and supper was great, I began crying and I couldn’t stop. I realized it years later after I learned about it.

And if you’re really unlucky it triggers PostPartum OCD-also not discussed very often.Very scary and can last a long time if not treated fast. I had it, took another 8 years for diagnosis. Would make a good video.

You should talk about eurythrophobia next nobody ever talks about it people are committing suicide over it anxiety that makes u blush literally turn bright red and hot in any social interaction even around family members it’s a vicious cycle people don’t understand if they were born with “Blushing” anxiety or they developed it.
