Just wanted to mention that this is not a realistic version of the outdoor ecosystem. The outdoors has MANY more insects, bacteria, fungi, mites and the like which would come along and break this down further. If you put a slice of pizza in a jar something similar would happen, things do not decompose well in isolated ecosystems.
I agree that littering isnt the best though.
