Were humans even meant to be on this planet? Canā€™t see in the dark and canā€™t stay out in the sun.

I have plague psoriasis. My dermatologist recommended me to sunburn and not wear sunscreen šŸ˜¢ I'm so glad I don't listen to him. Thanks for spreading words of truth, Dr Suarez

Sun always killed my acne when I was younger so yes, it does work. You do not need to burn your skin. 10 mins a day in late morning sun will help. Stop freaking everyone out about the damn sun, WE NEED THE SUN ON OUR SKIN!!

I used to believe that the sun healed my body my acne cleared up, and I felt better overall. But recently, I've started using sunscreen, which has been a challenging experience as a Black woman who never saw the need for it before. My eyes burn constantly, despite being told not to apply it near them, and to use mineral sunscreen instead. Now, I realize I need to wear sunscreen because my skincare routine includes active ingredients.

UV also kills bacteria, though. I'm sure that contributes to the betterment of symptoms too.

this is what my dermatologist told me - she said i should burn my face to get rid of acne and that sunscreen was poison and i shouldn't use it. thankfully i did not follow her advice, i'm a pale person with lots of moles just waiting to kill me.

At this point, I think itā€™s gone beyond ignorance and some of these people are just rage baiting.

Iā€™ve listened to you for advice before and I generally really like your science-based approach. You helped me pick some of my first products. I can say from anecdotal experience both me and family members have had noticeable improvements in acne with mild-moderate sun exposure. I know itā€™s a double-edged sword, I know the sun can cause other issues, but somehow it also gives my skin what itā€™s needs to fight off acne. List of things that could be the reason it works: 1. Vitamin D from sun/UV 2. Kills germs on skin surface 3. The hormetic stress of sun exposure reduces inflammation related to acne. 4. Red light from sun. 5. Melatonin produced in skin from sun exposure.

The sun actually breaks me out! When I forget to put suncreen on I tend to get closed comedones immediately.

When I was a teenager I looked forward to summer (for many reasons obvi) bc I knew that my back acne would clear up. The salt water and the sun almost immediately made my skin better. I know this is not the ideal situation but thankfully I donā€™t have any scars on my body. I maybe did this for 2-3 summers but after age 18 or 19 I pretty much stopped going in the sun.

My neutrogena makeup wipes always irritate my eyes. No burning, but sometimes stinging or vision cloudiness. I never hear anyone else talk about it and would love your thoughts :)

I had UVB treatment in a hospital for 12 weeks to treat my psoriasis. It was excellent, but it was like a sunbed and gave me a tan.

It definitely does help my face acne (adult acne club). But I did so much damage to myself in tanning beds in college that I no longer use this method. Cons outweigh pros.

Dr. Dray, I value your knowledge and experience, but a lot of our modern diseases are linked to lack of Vitamin D3 and sunlight, especially autoimmune conditions. It is dangerous to constantly avoid the sun.

I have lupus. UV rays have the opposite effect on me, they are immunostimulant. Even with spf 50 sunscreen, spending more than 20 minutes in the sun will trigger a flare for me.
