I feel like I am dissociated + depersonalized 99.9% of the time. I'm always in survival mode & fawning (or freezing). I have severe BPD, depression, anxiety, bi-polar, cPTSD & OCD. I truly appreciate people like you who work with people like me.. the mentally ill. It's an invisible disability.

1. You have a range of tools you can use when you become overwhelmed 2. You can recognise when you are starting to approach overwhelm and use tools in advance of it 3. You've used the tools and you know they work

Yoga was the secret for me. Power/ashtanga yoga specifically. Working to hard to spiral but present enough to start letting out there pressure in a safe way. Plus it was making me stronger and more flexible in many ways

Holding ice cubes in your hands while doing trauma work can help prevent dissociation sometimes. Also EMDR can be - for some people - easier than CBT to process trauma.

I dissociate because of my mental health and physical health. It can be really hard to stay present. How do you know if you have entered trauma therapy? I’ve been in therapy for 4yrs now and unable to talk about any kind of trauma but only in snippets as it came up. We were building my coping strategies up for that long and also spent 12months working on me trusting my therapist. Now I’m doing RO-DBT and I’m guessing that’s also skill building but I’ve heard it can also bring up a lot of past traumas. So would I be starting the trauma work? Or maybe a better question is what would starting trauma work be like?
