I’ve found employees tend to feel appreciated when they are paired fairly. That’s it. That’s what people want.

Pay. Them. More. Pizza parties don’t cover rent.

the fact that going “above and beyond” and putting in more effort and time than you’re paid for is NORMAL is a huge issue. the only reason quiet quitting is even being discussed is because companies and middle management got comfortable expecting us to overwork ourselves for little pay

Only way for me to feel appreciated is to pay me more than bare minimum to survive. To actually get paid sick time, and vacation time. To have health and dental benefits that actually cover healthcare

All that stuff she is saying is true. My father says that now being 70 years old and being retired. Your employer doesnt care about u out of work or ur family. I think ppl are realizing being happy is more then just working but beinf happy ans spending time with family/vacations

My mom always said never let your employer know you need your job. If ya have to pretend you are wealthy and just working for something to do. It does work. When they know your life depends on that check, they will take advantage of you in a heart beat.

She didn't mention pay people a livable wage!

You get what you pay. Don’t expect me to learn more jobs if my pay won’t increase

Quiet quitting also known as doing your job. This whole quiet quitting thing is management saying you're not worth my time to train you. Furthermore instead of setting "heathy" boundaries how about we normalize leading by example.

Companies don’t care about employees! She’s speaking truth and we should give them only what they pay for as they will flip on you in a minute!!!!

"onboarding buddy" "one on one meetings" PAY ME MONEY. if you want me to work harder, you need to pay me more money. That being said, I will never go above and beyond for my employer. Going above and beyond does not have price tag because to me, it is an act of care and acts of care are for humans. My employer is a company, not a human. I might go above and beyond for a customer or a coworker, or even a good boss, but never for a company.

Quiet quitting means doing what your job asks and no more. Which should be considered normal

If work is just a professional exchange, no passion no community no mercy no innovation, then yeah why would I do anything more than my job? Thats the point of having a single defined job. They absolutely can and will replace any one at any time. So there's nothing to trust and nothing to invest in emotionally. Not that I ever would in a job. The only time they treat you like a human is when they're legally required to. So why would I treat my work like a person? Its a money deal. To companies, its the same as any other deal with a contract. And they'll push it like a toxic relative if they can, and younger folk have been there done that. Each job is the equivalent work of like THREE people now, no way I'm letting you shame me into more to survive and ruining my body. Its a deal, a cog, not a nest.

Quiet quitting ISN'T doing the "bare minimum." Quiet quitting is doing your job description and no more. Thats not the bare minimum.

I personally don’t want to feel obligated to spending time with my coworkers outside of work at something like a happy hour. I don’t work in an office though so I guess maybe it’s different but I’ve never had that sense of teamwork and closeness where I wanted to really be friends with any of the people I work with.
