Teachers are getting shot out here by these ankle biters. That probably wasn't as hollow a threat as one should assume 😂

Our district pays about $120 per day for subs. But no amount is worth being threatened by kids like that. I was a teacher for many years and the last 2 years were the worst. I was cussed out during class and one kid threw a chair across the room. Our school did not have a good discipline program and they liked getting sent to the office because nothing ever happened and they got out of doing classwork. I am no longer willing to work under those circumstances. A lot of good teachers have left for that reason.

Yeah threats like that in the US should not be taken lightly.

As a retired teacher and, now, a sub, I can verify that kids really do make these kinds of threats. Too often, there are no consequences!! 😮

I had a kid say to me “….I oughta smack you….” and the ASSistant principal just kept him in the room. Now the kid is a year older, truant, and getting caught smoking in the bathroom and selling Breezes at school. I love my ASSistant Principal - she is so great!

50 Years ago a student threw a combination lock at my head as hard as he could. I caught it 3 inches from my head and walked over to him and handed it back. I was a sub at my old High School one year after my graduation. I took him and his two buddies for a ride at lunch. End of problems.

I used to see him at open mics! I’m so glad to see he’s getting more attention, the guy is really nice and funny!

That would be a great response from an asst principle. Then rush the kid out saying "We don't have anywhere else for him to teach." Make the kid think the substitute was the violent one.

That is a terroristic threat and it is a felony. Hopefully he was charged as well as the assistant principal for not doing anything, therefore an accessory.

Canadian substitutes make twice that, but admin refuses to intervene. "Kill your own skunks" was what they told me.

Child should have been immediately held for pick up by their parents. Evidence of counseling should be required before being allowed to return. Counseling should extend to parents who allowed the child to believe their comment and behavior was acceptable.

That’s dedication to your craft! Being a substitute teacher just to get material for your comedy act….bravo!

On February 2nd, 1996, I lost a really great teacher that I had while I was in college. She moved with her family to go teach at a middle school in Moses Lake Washington. That day Barry Loukaitis killed her, as well as wounding others and holding them hostage. I will never forget that day....she was a great teacher to me, kind and caring. He decided that day to destroy the lives of so many people, of which those wounds will never heal.....school shootings are a regular thing now, and it's only going to get worse.

I would've called the sheriff on the spot.

Yeah, saying to somebody I’m going to kill you is a terrorist threat in California and the authority should’ve been called immediately so they could take the report and start contacting child protective services and the parents, etc.

Amazing in that tragedy and comedy mesh and make people understand and laugh. Sweet job here from a 72 year old sub. I’m a washed up special education teacher.

I’m also a substitute. My answer would have been “I work across three different school districts, and regularly substitute teach at seven different schools for dozens of different teachers. You’ll have to find me first.”

I would've called police. There's no reason not to take these threats lightly anymore.
