My dad is a Caro-Kann player. He’s fallen for this once and never again. Personally, I’m not so big on the Caro-Kann. It’s solid, easy to play, and definitely a better French Defense because you’re not stuck with the problem bishop, but it’s not aggressive enough for my liking. It feels too much like trying to fight for equality rather than trying to fight for an advantage, and that just isn’t my style. I almost exclusively play the Sicilian to 1. e4, and I’m fine with most variations of that. There are a couple that I don’t like at all, such as the Accelerated Dragon, but I think it’s just a great choice for counterattacking. My three main variations are the Najdorf, Dragon, and Sveshnikov variations, but I’m just fine with whatever white throws my way. Any kind of closed Sicilian, the Moscow variation, the Nezhmetdinov-Rossolimo Attack, the Richter-Rauzer, anything. I like the positions for black, particularly those where neither king is completely safe and we’re both going after each other’s throats.

Yeah sometimes when I play the Caro Kann, after White plays Nxe4, I play Nc6 trying to get into the Tartakower, White plays Qe2 which is similar. If Nd7 it would be mate which I did fell for once in bullet, but you just take the knight and then go Nd7 I think. You should show that because its really unusual to meet someone play Nd7 after white taking the knight, very side line. The tartakower is much more common.

As a Caro-Cann player myself, there is no way that I am ever playing Nd7 before developing my bishop in this line.
Bf5 in this position threatens the knight so you can develop with tempo, then if they threaten the bishop with Ng3 then you can just go back with Bg6 and have a very nice position. Just don't play Nd7 in front of your bishop lol
