Fun fact: Wet suits actually work by trapping a thin layer of water between your body and the suit. Your body warms that layer, which stays trapped inside the suit for the most part, keeping you moderately warm in cooler water. You will still get wet under your wetsuit.
A dry suit, on the other hand, works by completely sealing off all areas where water could get in, keeping you completely dry. You could wear a tux underneath a dry suit, dive to your location, remove the wet suit and still have a nice, dry, slightly wrinkly tux. Dry suits do not, however, keep you warm. To compensate, we wear an undergarment made of something like wool. It makes cold water diving so much more enjoyable and will sometimes even lead to sweating in 30 degree water.
TLDR - Wet suit traps layer of water to keep warm; doesnt keep you dry. Dry suit is watertight and keeps you dry; doesnt keep warm. Must wear warm undergarment.

Men don't measure cold water in degrees, we measure it in negative centimeters.
