Even the most confident people love validation but loving something and needing it are two very different things and too much validation can very quickly make us an addict of external confirmation and reassurance.
Validation goes straight to our ego and the more we get it, the more we need it. It makes us feel important, and what happens when we start loving the adulation and accolades? We do what is necessary to hold onto the shift in public perception, which for a lot of us, means preserving that image by avoiding anything that can expose us as fallible or a work in progress. The only way to do that is to create a zone of comfort and stay within its limits. Basically, avoid all new challenges. This obviously restricts our growth. If you desire deep, continuous learning and transformation, you must carefully manage your ego. Don’t let the external validation go to your head.
Additionally, an excessive focus on external validation can lead to negative emotions such as insecurity, anxiety, and disappointment when validation is not received. It's important to cultivate a healthy sense of self and to recognize that self-worth comes from within, rather than from external sources.
