It's not just CALORIES. It is INSULIN RESPONSE which triggers fat storage. Food has a hormonal impact. Many people noticed as kids if they skipped breakfast of cereal that they did not feel hungry before lunch, but when they ate their sugar frosted cereal, they were famished by lunch time. I noticed this. I also noticed that pancakes and syrup gave me the shakes but if I had it with sausage, it did not.

What makes high fructose corn syrup so bad is because of its inclusion in so many foods and drinks it makes corn massively produced across the US. So massive factory farms grow corn and strip the land, fertilizing to compensate, instead of growing nutritional crops on rotation in ways that will keep the land viable for a long time.

To be honest, I always kind of thought that was the given knowledge on corn syrup. Just broadly speaking the over consumption of any type of sugar that’s gonna be bad for you. The United States I think it’s clearly evidence that we just simply eat too much processed food, and sugar makes it edible and over salting it.

This is why when I make my owm syrup at home. If its 100% maple syrup, it jas High Fructose Corm Syrup in it. If anyone is curious, i make strawberry syrup at home. Get a bag of frozen strawberries, thaw them, toss them in a bowl and COVER them in sugar, and let them sit overnight. The sugar Immolates woth the strawberries and turns into syrup.
I know that sugar isnt good for you, but if you want to have something with your pancakes or waffles, that is a MUCH better alternative to any of the store bought syrups at market.

The problem with trying to eat hyper-palatable foods "in moderation" is that the food is designed to make you crave more of it. What "moderation"? 😂
I find that if I just stop eating foods designed to be hyper-palatable, I don't crave them anymore. I'm less hungry, less irritable, I get better sleep, and it shows in my blood work.
If you can handle "moderation", congratulations. You're an anomaly.

There are few things I love more than people admitting they were wrong and correcting themselves.
