It makes sense to have COP28 in an oil-producing country and involve leaders from the petroleum industry. These are the people directly impacted by climate decisions, and involving them could lead to more practical solutions. When those who are part of the problem are part of creating the solution, they’re more likely to commit to and apply these decisions effectively. It’s about turning key players into active participants in environmental change.
