People in these comments are missing the point: Sean specifically gives advice for aesthetic training. Yes, some people train for endurance, others for strength, but Sean studies and gives advice SPECIFICALLY for muscle hypertrophy and bulking. The goal of Sean's advice is to LOOK as muscular as you can. So, of course, other forms of training are incredibly valuable for different goals, different types of athletes train for different types of performance. But Sean teaches you how to train for aesthetic goals in particular. The reason for videos like this isn't to put down this type of training for other purposes, it's to put down coaches that lie to you about what these exercises will do for you aesthetically. While useful when it comes to health and endurance, these kinds of workouts often come with (GET SIX PACK ABS) titles when, in reality, they will do absolutely nothing for you in that particular regard.

All I need is
1. Leg raises
2. weighted decline situps
3. weighted russian twists
4. weighted back extensions
I like to use a kettlebell for the decline situps and russian twists, a lot easier to grip and progressively overload since theyâll go up in 5 pound increments instead of using plates jumping from 25 to 35.

Iâm general, I want to train my core more because Iâve noticed how much better my whole physique looks when I flex my abs. I donât want visible abs, but I want a tight abdomen by actually training the muscles.
A lot of people forget that your abs (if not properly trained through compounds) do need to be targeted if you want to balance out your aesthetics and strength

If you just really enjoy circuit style ab routines then go for it. But in terms of practical results theyâre generally a poor use of time and effort. Youâre essentially doing a mix between a brief cardio session that doesnât burn very many calories... and a muscle building workout that doesnât stimulate hypertrophy nearly as effectively as other alternatives. Having a âsix packâ is primarily just an issue of maintaining low enough body fat levels, and thatâs achieved through a calorie deficit which is mainly driven through your diet. You canât âspot reduceâ fat by performing abdominal exercises. From an aesthetics standpoint, the only purpose for direct ab training is to build the actual abdominal muscles to get them popping out a bit more noticeably. But you donât train your chest by pumping out 5 different light weight/high rep exercises back-to-back for 12 minutes, so why would you train your abs that way? It makes no sense. Just train your abs in the same basic way as youâd train any other muscle group. Select exercises where you can get within a few reps of failure (rope crunches are my personal favorite), take a proper rest period between sets, and progressively overload over time. âAb workoutsâ are great for social media clicks because they can be done from anywhere and everyone wants to âlose belly fatâ and âget a six packâ... But if most people really understood how little these workouts are actually doing for them then they probably wouldnât bother. đŞ FOLLOW THESE 2 STEPS TO MAXIMIZE YOUR RESULTS: 1ď¸âŁ Get your FREE training and nutrition plan from me by pressing the yellow profile icon above then clicking the link in bio. 2ď¸âŁ Check out my no B.S supplement line over at realscienceathletics.com/ (link also in bio) and use code YT10 to save 10% on your first order. â Follow on IG for more daily tips: @sean_nalewanyj P.S.
