Essentialism is a logical approach to life. It's not healthy to say yes to everything, simply because a person is afraid to say no. So, whatever a person says yes to, should be executed with 100% commitment. Of course, one should make sure they know exactly what they're saying yes to in the first place. 😆

This just seems like a toxic and unhealthy way to approach life. I’d know because essentialising, is genuinely MY worst tendency, in my experience. In fact it’s one of, if not, the most unhealthy way to think and approach life. And it only leads to overthinking, over-analysis, which all activates stress & anxiety responses, unnecessarily. Essentialism creates stasis and prevents you from living a full life, because it manifests cowardice. You plan everything for what’ll go wrong. Which harms your physical and mental health. And over time it will lead you to various forms mental illness. You search for deeper meaning within; it’s not within. It will never be found on the inside. You will find it elsewhere. It will come to you. Frankly there is no greater intent behind everything. And little reason for anything. The backbone of cognitive behaviour therapy, is that for most people it’s far easier to change behaviour and slowly adapt cognitive patterns, based on that. Changing behaviour first is what actually drives change. This in particular can get hard for me, and many people, I have diagnosed ADHD, Bipolar 1, psychotic episodes… I also likely have CPTSD. My most recent issue is functional freeze. Traumatic memories enter my mind, and then I break the thoughts apart. And then I essentialise. Essentialising, with such horrible thoughts and memories literally makes me dissociate, or puts me into fight, flight or freeze. Then I have little to no control over my behaviour, or actions. My brain has been in survival instinct mode. Then months pass, and though I feel like I’ve been thinking incessantly, continuously. I had not used my brain once, in said months. Because of my habit of essentialising, my life has been severely disrupted, my personal relationships massively damaged. My girlfriend and I almost broke up because I’ve been such an over-analytical, over-logical silly billy. Essentialism only made me more rash and emotional. The irony 🤣 Overanalysing simple concepts, usually in itself, induces negative feedback loops. In actuality the only way to actually change and do better, is simply just to behave differently. Just do. Do first, think later. Because thinking, almost never changes what you will do. In fact it only stops you from living a fulfilling life. Thinking too much leads nowhere good. Speaking both as physics student, but also someone who’s been detained in a mental hospital, for months. So trust me when I say, this is one of the most disastrous approaches to life. It’s not very smart either, even if it sounds smart on the tin. It seems logical, which it is… in theory. But it ignores the innumerable complexities of life. First of all Logic is powerless before emotion. And logic is also the result of emotion. Emotion is the main guide to decision making. Not logic. No human lives a ‘logical’ life. We do not live in a fair world, or a meritocracy. The thought of that is a joke. Anyone believes such is a fool. Harnessing emotion and refining interoception, are the most powerful tools, at least to me. And I’m a physics guy. Pretty hard degree. Just sayin. Emotion is what’s important. The people you care about, your family… that’s what’s most important in life. The things society forces you to care about, status, money, attention from the opposite s’x. All pointless. All that really matters is what you make of it. My family, my girlfriend, my friends, the future of my future children… that matters to me. Sure I love composing… but it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things 🤣 And most people (especially right wingers (I’m far left)) think they’re logical, but don’t understand that all logical thought is born of emotion, and are then biased and wrong without realising the various ways they’ve been manipulated to think a very, very, specific way. It washes out who they are, and makes them weird in the head. Life is not logic. Logic isn’t necessarily good. In fact it is possible for a human to logically rationalise anything. Which implies… nothing is logical. It’s simply a human construct. A human cannot know or maximise everything. We are not omniscient. Life is best lived first and foremost. Just have experiences and learn new things. Make friends. Don’t be scared. Thinking does nothing, but dig you in a deeper hole, and when you start feeling isolated and starved of what you need… well I’ve made it obvious what you did wrong. I’m not advising being thoughtless when you need to think. But you rarely actually need to think, unless it’s studying, or working on something. Heck… I’m essentialising right now… I’ve wasted half an hour typing wass on YouTube. I should be asleep, cuddling my beautiful girlfriend. How silly of me
