Agreed. This is why I have an issue with the word “enlightenment”, because it by definition, seems to indicate an end result rather than a process. The truth of the matter is ego is necessary in the 3rd dimension/density experience. And the ego can be a beautiful thing, a tool used to gain higher understanding and truth from a unique vantage point. We are all special expressions of the divine, completely unique, and it’s that uniqueness that reflects the infinite for no two vantage points are the same. So bless your experience, because no one else is having it and through you, the infinite is experiencing. It’s a wonderful paradox in that you are One, but you are also “many”.

I just came to accept this and assigned the ego a position of advisor to the kingdom within. He has done a great job to get us here and now must serve the king higher self. It’s working out great so far. This video is a confirmation. 🎉

Suffering is caused by cognitive dissonance, or the state of contradicting thoughts. For example, fighting what we encounter by judging something as undesirable creates dissonance between the thought "I prefer x" and "this is not x". The way out is through -- we must enter the pain and see that our denial of what exists comes from unnecessary fear. Having preferences is fine. Allowing the body, without second thought or question, to move per its nature is even better. Preference automatically takes us there; but when we repress our own feelings, when we put thoughts where none are needed, we prevent the flow of liberation.

Enlightenment is the transcendence of ego/mind. This means no-mind, no-ego. It's that simple. The idea of ego is dissolved along with all the ego's desires. What's left is blissful observer of no-thing as no-mind means no thing is altering real perception. Ego is a thing, a made up idea. We 'believe' the lies it holds us in. Ego/mind is what ego/mind uses to make a thing. When no thing is made or desired, only pure love exists, our true and real state. Be kind ;)

Evaluating yourself honestly and listening to constructive criticism, keeping an open mind, helps you grow and mature. I know many older people who are stuck in a juvenile state because the can’t accept criticism or evaluate themselves. Willingly accept and evaluate even an insult but do not be fooled into thinking poorly of yourself.

This has become my understanding too. I’ve heard so many talk about killing off the ego etc. etc. but that just didn’t feel right. Just now I got an image of training wheels to describe what the egos contribution has been thus far in our evolution. Frankly I feel gratitude to the ego for keeping me safe during a period when I didn’t have the level of consciousness needed to operate without it. At least this is my understanding of the situation so far.
