I grew up in Astoria, New York and Time Square was one of my favorite places to visit as a kid. You're right, it captures your imagination! Similarly, playing my favorite songs and/or being in the awe of nature has this same effect for me. These are the 2 easiest ways to let my mind go and feel like a little kid at heart.

You need to go to Tokyo. It is amazing. So clean and safe and people are respectful and polite.

I love all kinds of music. Times Square is nice, but I like downtown Manhattan better in daytime.
I liked Piccadilly circus and Covenant Gardens when I was there in 1996.
I adore Amsterdam. I'd like to go back.

The visual sensory overload, I get you, but the artifice - what it represents... I don't.
It's like the maddest detuned version of a storm-flogged beach with the sun setting on the horizon beyond the tempest. Like the disease, the corrosion - trying to replicate the grail of health with the autotune set to 100, and the result coming out so corrupted it's only real power is to make you feel dirtier.
