There's so much potential for this to pull a fast one on the players. Imagine you wake up with no memory, but you're clad in full paladin armour and carrying a greatsword. To your left is a prisoner in chains, and you have in your hand a mandate to take this prisoner to their execution. Along the way you find yourself failing pretty brutally in combat. It eventually turns out you're actually a rogue, you're one of the prisoner's allies in disguise here to free them. The prisoner doesn't remember this either, so has actually been trying to kill you to escape execution. Or you don't figure it out, and when you finally get them there and their crime is... dissenting. They're a political prisoner of a totalitarian paladin-state and you were meant to rescue them from their unjust death at the hands of a dictator. Instead you brought them to be executed because you thought they were guilty of something horrible, and they tried to kill you several times because they thought you were one of the pigs
