Short: Using a tumbler to polish oxidized copper jewelry

The liquid I am using is Sunsheen Burnishing Compound from riogrande.com
I add stainless steel shot to my Lotrone 3A tumbler, cover the shot with water, add the oxidized copper pendant frames, and add just a splash of the Sunsheen liquid.
I usually tumble for about 2 hours, checking periodically to see if the copper is polished to my liking (if you polish too much it will get really light looking, almost like it is not even oxidized anymore).
I like to use this method when I have a lot of pendants to oxidize where the stone doesn't need to get locked into place, because you don't want to be tumbling pendants with stones as the stones may get damaged. And if I only have a few pendants, it is just quicker and easier to polish them by hand (when I polish by hand I use extra fine steel wool, wet, with dish soap).

Do you ever use a coating on the oxidized pieces to keep them from oxidizing more over time? What brand, etc.? Mahalo
