There are those stories of people going to other countries and losing some weight despite eating more. There is also the idea of the body prioritizing making fat to have a place to store toxins so it can process it out slowly over time. Shame that people don’t have a varied enough diet to give the body time to recover from one type of bullshit. You could also argue that the body robs you of energy while cleaning up. But if it never gets clean, then lazy is the new default setting.
Sometimes it’s not only calories in and out. Sometimes it matters in what shape it gets into your body….. And also genetics. Some people makes energy from fat like a power plant, while bread can steadily grow them an extra chin…… It’s not always a varied diet that is the solution either
Doesn’t Italians use a different type of flour that some people digest better?

That's true. I have a friend who lost almost half of her weight and in order to keep that she has to eat small portions, everything balanced and healthy. She eats half of what I do and healthier and I'm still thinner than her. The only thing that explains that is the way our body metabolizes.
Of course I can't speak for everyone

Being overweight most of my life, I can vouch. I got frustrated and once did a hard diet, it was hard on me. To maintain, I had go leave everything, I was eating only boiled food twice a day with 2hrs gym everyday. My weight was 96kg/211lb at 5ft 8inch and maintained it for nearly 1 year until covid hit.

this is completely correct metabolism differs person to person and lowers as we age (even disproportionately between men and women) there’s a difference between treating your body right and what your body can naturally take.
