Just because you think that being an artist has "no value" doesn't mean it's not a worthy pursuit/ career. Creative artistic expression makes it worth while. As long as it makes you feel free and happy, I say it is worth calling myself an artist. You can't compare yourself to a doctor, for instance. It's like comparing apples to oranges, or a rose to a lilly. Both are beautiful and flourish in their own unique ways. And they also have their own unique value. You can change someone's life with your art and inspire them. Just because you're not out there saving lives working in a hospital doesn't mean your art practice is any less valuable than a doctor's services. Someone could have a terminal health condition, and your art can bring someone great comfort in their time of need. Art therapy exists for a reason! Art is valuable!!! So please don't discount the power of an artistic masterpiece. With your mentality, "Being an artist doesn't matter, " I would have to disagree. Being an artist does matter. You can influence people in a way that no other profession can. Art is powerful. A single art piece contains a thousand words. I'm sure you've heard the saying. Imagine seeing someone's portfolio or life's work. That says a lot about a person, and their dedication to the craft. Give artists the respect we deserve! We've worked too hard for too long, only to be told that our profession doesn't matter?! I assure you it does matter! You can save lives with your art! Even if it's indirectly, it still matters. Just because Artists don't make as much money as, say, a brain surgeon doesn't mean that Art is not a thing worth pursuing. Mic drop 🎨🖌️🖼️
