Thank you brother. I'm 40 years old, 195 lbs, and ran a 17:30 5k last month. I'm looking to improve my 3.09 marathon PR. It's always nice to see someone with a great muscular build dispel the false notion that distance running "destroys muscle." God bless.

Running assists me in so many different areas outside of cardio, helps improve mental clarity and mood, teaches you to do the hard things, and also improves my lifting. I notice I can lift heavier and more reps due to running

If a person is on a bulk, running will build more muscle than anything, especially running hills and stairs.

I’m currently doing multiple hours of cardio a day (running, jump rope, rucks etc.) because I love running and I’m used to being active all the time as I have been an athlete my whole life. I’m currently maintaining my weight eating around 4,000 calories but I’m confused on how much I should eat on rest days or days I don’t do any cardio. My goal is to build muscle because I am quite lean at the moment so I have been “maingaining” for a while. Should I lower calories because I won’t be burning as many calories?
