When I cooked my food from scratch I learned that all flavors are more intense when there's been no cane sugar in my diet for a couple of days.
I learned how to cook in India, where sugar is a local crop. Sugar cane juice is sold with ginger mixed into it as an anti-emitic because people only drink it if they cannot afford food. Children are taught not to lie to their fathers...after they're taught not to eat sugar, because eating sugar damages the teeth to such an extent that getting dental care to treat extra cavities for a child can bankrupt the entire family. This fact makes eating sugar worse than telling lies.

It’s not just the food industry, I find Thai food in restaurants very sweet, and the main course is often sweeter than the dessert. It really puts me off it. It’s a shame because I would really enjoy it otherwise. It’s not just Thai food in restaurants, I often discover too much sugar in many different cuisines, and I believe it is becoming more common.
Also I find the salt content to be very high in the food industry, and quite often in restaurants.
