I agree with the premise but not the conclusion. I've been married 12 years and the past 3 we have lived apart because he travels for work 365 and I'm going to school. A year or so ago, I realized I love him and want him in my life but I don't need him. I like being alone. I like myself. But I would still definitely be sad if I did not have him as my partner and had to go through the rest of my life without him. He's working on a job change so we can be together again. Definitely important to love yourself and being by yourself, but it's okay to be sad about not having another person to share your life with.
