It’s three vocal layers. They’re all singing the same phrase: “God Only Knows what I’d be without you”. BUT, Carl only sings the first two lines of that phrase in low/mid tenor (1st layer), Bruce then comes in with a higher tenor (2nd layer), and after that Brian replaces Carl on the low/mid tenor role (1st layer) and brings in the Falsetto (3rd layer), Bruce stays on the high tenor role for the rest of the fade out.
