Overwhelmed with choices of things to do
and places to go in Kyoto? With over 1600 Buddhist Temples,
Shinto shrines, beautiful nature, and culture literally
everywhere, I sure know we were. So let's kick start mv quide
on the top 13 things to do in Kyoto Japan (pt1)!

1. Get Lost - remember how i said there is so much to see and
do? This makes Kyoto the ideal city to explore freely, so going
off the beaten path where you will surely find gems all to
yourself. There are many mega popular attractions in Kyoto, so
I encourage you to try and stumble upon your own places
that will leave you feeling a special connection to Kyoto, and it
will surely be the highlight of your visit.

2) Fushimi Inari- just because something is a mega attraction
doesn't mean it is overrated! Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of the
most iconic places in Kyoto and Japan, and it lives up to the
hype. Not only does it have thousands of those iconic red tori
gates, but it is littered with little gems along the hike up the
mountain. Be sure to take your time exploring here and get off
the main path whenever possible - you'll thank me later!

3) Explore Higashiyama Neighborhood - this is one of my
favorite neighborhoods to truly feel the authentic & traditional
Japanese culture that I crave to experience in Kyoto. These
streets are lined with beautiful old wooden buildings, are filled
with food vendors, and are surrounded by temples and
gardens. Take your time soaking up the atmosphere before
moving on to the next thing.
