The lesson I learned from this was donā€™t go for a casual hike in the woods at night.

Trusting your gut instinct is the difference in being home in time to watch the 10 o'clock news, or being featured ON the 10 o'clock news.

My husband knows the son of the couple this happened to and heā€™s met them and they told him about it during one of their dinners they shared with him. When he asked them y didnā€™t they stoop down to see what they had bumped into on the trail they said they just ā€œknew something was wrong and felt like someone was watching them so they turned around and leftā€. Later when Bundy spoke of this moment he said ā€œhe didnā€™t understand y the couple never investigated and instead they stood there a few seconds then just turned around and came back the way they had comeā€ and he even had ā€œthought about killing the couple next had they stayed any longer and found the bodyā€. My husbands friends parents had NO IDEA how close they came to being offed by a SK that night and told my husband how ā€œgrateful they wereā€ that they followed the creepy feeling they got in their gut and chose to leave.

John Gacy tried to pick me up in Elkhart, Indiana. I was walking and he pulled over and asked me where manpower was. Then offered me a job, but being a hippy 13 year old I turned him down. Years later I saw a documentary on him and the car he drove. Sent chills down my spine. It paid to be lazy that day. (I finally changed the spelling to Gacy from Gacey) Sorry for any trauma it may have caused a select few.

Always listen to your intuition! Years ago while living in Colorado Springs my boyfriend & I were jogging on a path that had gone into a gulley. It was dusk & as we were stretching I looked up & saw a man coming toward us down the path. He had an intense look on his face, was dressed in all black clothes & wore a beanie tho it was summer. He was walking very deliberately toward us & suddenly I got this sick feeling & I just KNEW he was a very dangerous man. I started up the path that led back to the parking lot, yelling for my boyfriend to RUN! We ran to the top of the trail, I was so afraid he'd catch us. We immediately got into my car & locked it. He didn't follow us out of the gulley. šŸ˜®šŸ˜®I know without a doubt that he would have done something horrible to us if we hadn't run away. Always better safe than sorry

This confession by Bundy has always given me chills. That and my mother spoke with him once, when she was a hostess at a restaurant he patronized. She said yes he was handsome but v the way he flirted didn't sit right with her and a couple of the waitresses. I thank God Almighty she, and her coworkers, listened to their inner voice warning them. Sadly, other women weren't as fortunate between having their good nature taken advantage of when he feigned injury or they accepted his advances.

Has anyone else had this experience::: My late husband and I were headed home one day on the highway, with him driving. I'm gazing out my passenger window and at a particularly heavily wooded spot, got the unmistakable feeling there was something in those woods, watching me. Even tho I was in a vehicle doing 65 mph, I felt endangered, unsafe. Creepy!

I met him when I was young. He approached a friend & me while walking back from checking the mail in our apt complex in Florida & approached us. He seemed, "off" & grabbed my friends hand & RAN screaming. He turned around & ran out into the street & they found the body of another girl not far from where I lived at the time. I didn't know who he was at the time, but not long after I saw his face on our tv, & must have just gone completely white, because my mother thought I had gotten suddenly ill. I just kept pointing at the TV saying that he was here & try to get my friend & I to go with him to do yard work. Said he'd pay us. I was a pretty brave kid, but I'm VERY glad I've never been STUPID!!!!!!

Surprisingly enough, they probably werenā€™t in danger. Ted was smart enough not to attack them because if he had, one of them would have likely escaped. it was a higher risk to him to try and ā€œsilenceā€ them than it would be to just hide and get away. This story is just nuts tho

I would never go on a walk in the woods at night without a flashlight. You can walk into a hole, spiderweb, or a dead body. Ewww.

I was picked up at the bus stop by Gary Heidnik and driven to the subway about 5 blocks away. He asked me to come to his house for champagne. Thank goodness my parents gave me a strong work ethic because I was about 21 and loved to party but I was on my way to work so I hopped out and went on my merry way.

My coworker met Ted Bundy when she was a young woman driving late at night in Utah in the 70s. He pulled her over, pretending to be a cop & thinking she was a lone woman driving by herself. Once he got to her car, he found out that not only was she not alone (her friend was sleeping in the passenger seat) but she also had a šŸ”« within arm's reach. He made some flimsy excuse about him suspecting her car was stolen & let her on her way

I was 22 years old- female- and lived 2 doors down from Bundy when he attacked the 5 coeds at Florida state college. I used to walk home from my job at 11:30 at night and pass in front of where he lived on College Ave. Guardian angels working overtimeā€¦

I remember a twitter post from a now older lady up in the Washington area. When she was a young girl, a man asked to help him put up his boat into the car. He had a sling on & she felt bad for him. But she was with her grandpa, and he had told her to stay right there until he comes back. She said she could help the guy as soon as her grandpa came back. The guy said heā€™d find other help. Of course it was Ted Bundy. He seemingly tried to kill every young woman he could.

One night in the early 90's my girlfriend and I were walking at a nearby duck pond when I heard a rustling noise. Being that we were in Houston, Tx. I grabbed my girlfriends hand harder and said let's get out of here. Sure enough a few days later a couple was found dead at that park. Go with you gut. Be aware of your surroundings.

I was in Jr high on the sidewalk in front of the school with 2 friends one morning. A man came up to us and started talking to us, random polite conversation with some seemingly I docent questions. Then he started asking about the beach and did any of us want to walk down to the beach with him. We felt kinda weird that a man wanted young girls to skip school to go with him, so we walked off into school. That night, I saw a picture of him on the news ... Ted Bundy. Too weird for me.

Things I've learned from Mr. Ballen if I want to live to a ripe old age. Do not go cave exploring , do not dive and go cave exploring especially if you see a grim reaper sign. If your children see something outside...or hear knocking in the walls...believe them. If you find a structure in the middle of nowhere...in the water or forest...leave it alone. If it has fencing around it...yeah...don't go in. Skydiving...not a good idea. Now I need to add...stay out of forests at night if you don't want to meet the local friendly serial killer.šŸ˜‚

As a very young correctional officer at Florida State Prison i was sent to a wing as part of a group to test the bars on a confinement wing that houses death row inmates. We were all given heavy hammers and we were to go through the wing and strike each and every bar on the wing. Each cell was made of a hundred or so half inch bars about 6 to 12 inches long. I started on the first cell in the row and that cell housed Ted bundy. The very first bar i struck flew across his cell as it had been cut almost all the way threw. The cut had been filled with tooth paste and paint chips ground up and stuck to the outside to disguise it. I struck a second bar beside it and it flew across the cell. Before i could report this we were quickly shoved back on to the officers quarter deck and the goon squad sent in. It was not a very good day for Ted Bundy. This was the very first day working as a CO at Florida State Prison.
