I used to work at a retail pharmacy. The public explosion of Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Ozempic (and even Rybelsus) completely destroyed our ability to order & receive said medications regularly due to their high demand. I would never question a doctor’s prescription or especially its intent, but some (known, regular) patients with T1/T2 diabetes would plead with me for the latest diabetic drugs if they were experiencing side effects/decreased efficacy from their 20th century insulin medications. It’s hard to tell them that their life-saving medication is sometimes scooped up by Hollywood celebrities…. Especially when things like phentermine (a controlled substance, so not a 1:1 comparison) are available for weight loss, or even topiramate can be effective in curbing hunger/weight loss. I’m not a doctor or pharmacist, so please take this with a heap of salt. If I’m misinformed on anything here, please let me know- I love to learn.

i lost 270lbs cutting carbs, and i literally couldn't even walk without a walker for the first 100lbs i lost. i had bad metabolic issues with a pregnancy and blew up like a balloon, and my right hip bone had been dead for awhile and collapsed at that weight. if i didn't lose it, I'd have to get a hip replacement done and repeated every 10 years due to the wear and tear at that weight. if i lost the weight i could get the hip reconstructed and just move on with my life. i lost the weight and had it reconstructed. and i didn't take a single drug or supplement to do it, and I've kept that weight off for 10 years

People losing weight on Ozempic are losing not only fat but also lean muscle mass (sarcopenia). What’s the big deal about that? As we age it gets harder and harder to not only build muscle but to hold onto it. And over time loss of muscle/strength can put everyday activities out of reach—such as walking, cleaning, shopping, even dressing. It hinders the ability to cope with and recover from illnesses or injuries and can also lead to dangerous falls, which could result in disability or even death. So if you’re taking and losing weight on Ozempic be sure to counter any muscle loss with regular/consistent weightlifting regimen.
