It's common for Japanese to NOT use AC while they sleep. It is slowly changing as more people don't live in the traditional Japanese houses but I hear many foreign friends getting into arguments about this. How about you?

I think sleeping with too much heat is harder than too cold. Can always add a blanket.

I absolutely hate sleeping when it's hot, but love sleeping in the cold. Also, I leave water bottles by the window, and they get nice and cold to drink in the morning

I would STRAIGHT UP DIE without AC. I'd sleep in a different bedroom if I was in an intercultural relationship with a Japanese person. My sleep is VERY sacred to me.

I turn on the ac and my partner turn on the fan on top of that😅. We literally sleep freezing 🥶 but we both prefer cold than hot... Im glad

Yeah I love Japan but that's unnecessary torture.

In 2001, I was 15 and studying abroad in Japan. I was staying with a host family. As you say in this video. I was sharing a room with one of their sons and we accidentally fell asleep with the ac unit on. My host family brother woke up with hives in the morning. I felt so bad, still to this day. I didn’t get yelled at or anything because it was an accident. But ya, that was rough.

My husband isn’t Japanese but he grew up here. We have had this problem since day 1. So funny to know that’s not a problem just we have lol

I prefer a frigid room with a nice warm blanket, summer or winter

It's 106 F here in Texas. Open air circulation, even at night, equates to being air fried in bed.

I'm used to 3 to 17 degrees during night in Norway 😛 I'm in Japan now and have the AC on 19,5 degrees 😂

Nah I'm not gonna be going to sleep without the a/c in the summer, I need a cool room to sleep in. Winter isn't gonna be a problem, but that summertime she's gonna have to sleep with an extra blanket.

From NC and it’s as hot/humid or more so than Tokyo and we don’t do this 😂

40 degrees in summer in southern ontario and -30 degrees in winter. AC is a must in summer.

Then there's me turning it on and off every ten mins cuz I can't bear the heat or the room getting too cold 💀

I stayed at a hostel in September and it was 85+ indoors. I kept getting up to turn on the ac in the room because someone kept turning it off. It was a good 2 hours before they conceded defeat. I slept 5 hours 😂 this gave me some context; I was absolutely confused why someone would be ok with sleeping that hot

We’d be sleeping in different rooms, there’s no worse feeling than a humid and hot room when trying to sleep
