I too have a nut allergy, and I have to be careful with cococuts, because they are, simulatenously, a nut, a fruit and a seed. I also have to be careful with stone fruits (peaches, nectarines, apricots etc) due to their relationship to tree nuts. I also have a bunch of fruit allergies because of my allergy to birch trees!

Yeah, I don't vibe with this one. Nut allergies usually don't just itch, so I can see being cautious, and there's nothing obvious about a coconut not being a nut. It has "nut" in the name and a similar texture to nuts. I'd only ask an apology for the extreme reaction, tbh

One of my friends has both a nut and a coconut allergy. Best for the server to ask if that nut allergy is specific and if it also includes coconut, and/or peanuts.

So here's the thing...
The outer inedible fibrous layer is the flesh of the fruit.
The part we eat is the seed of the coconut.
And when you eat an seed from a tree its either a drupe or a nut. So if you consider Almonds nuts then coconuts are nuts.
But Almonds are drupes not nuts. And Coconuts are drupes not nuts.
But not fruit, definitly not the fruit we do not eat the fruit.
