The point isn't to be perfect but it is to be good. Either good enough for you, if your art is personal. Then good enough commercially if your art is a job and it pays to provide a living. Then from their we can learn to be great.

Yes, even though I know better I'm trying to unlearn it. I know it wasn't meant to stick so hard, but I still remember my dad if you're going to do something do it right or not at all. It was easier not to do the thing. He was a terrific dad, but that just wasn't a good thing for me to hear.

Yup . Feel like that every time I see a blank canvas or sketchbook. Iβm better now- I just start drawing exercises and a kinda warm up. But that feeling of whatever I do Iβm disappointed- still very much with me! Iβm not a natural artist, but learning to draw has been a lot of fun- and thousands of hours of shitty drawing π
