The way she choked up about the good nurses...... that's true. A good nurse will help you hold your broken heart.

I love that Dr. Mike said “you know why you’re getting emotional, this is a serious story”. I often find myself saying “I don’t know why I’m being emotional” as if it’s crazy and irrational to feel feelings about serious topics. So great to have that validation when sharing something traumatic, especially on such a public platform.

I’m a new nurse 24 & often get scolded for spending time with my patients even though I get all tasks checked off on the chart for my shift. I don’t have family, so I like connecting with patients to feel that warm feeling that u get with family even tho it’s temporary. I’m glad to hear it can leave an impact on patients.

He looks at her with such kindness and understanding in his eyes. I liked to see that a lot.

The genuine shock and disbelief on his face, why anyone would ever say that to another human being. To be a good doctor, you have to be a good human first.

I’m currently sitting in the hospital after a motorcycle crash. Broken foot in five places and ankle is broken. Almost lost my foot but because of all the special nurses it’s still here. Those good ones need recognition. I will never forget them

There's also a huge difference between "you'll never wear a bikini again" and "you will likely have scars the rest of your life, but we'llget you through it"

Some doctors (and some nurses) have terrible beside manner under the guise of “giving it to you straight”. My sister was fighting liver failure and a doctor came in and told her that there was nothing they could do and to “prepare yourself to die”. Nurses were coming into her room when she had tubes in her mouth for feeding and they would causally talk to each other about how this patient and that patient on the liver floor had died that day with no regard to how that made my sister or other patients feel who were fighting to live. My mom fought to get my sister transferred to a different hospital where she got a liver transplant and made a full recovery.

Hi, Nurse from Sweden here. So happy to hear that people in my field helped you through what clearly was a traumatic time. It's our job to help you live your best life, after all. Shame about that doctor who sabotaged you, but I'm glad you're in a place where you can talk about it now.

Nurses are the backbone and salt of the healthcare industry. I remember giving birth to my second, and she was premature. I was terrified the day they were releasing me because I was a single mother and the nurse who was with me that day gathered a whole bunch of newborn supplies for me and had two bags of food ordered from the hospital kitchen instead of the one they usually send families home with, but let me tell you what the best part was - the hug she gave me. I’ll never forget it. The kind of hug that when she whispered to me that I was going to be okay, I actually believed her. And she was right. This was almost 10 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. God bless all nurses. They’re earth’s angels.

I tear up whenever I think about my nurses from my time in the hospital, too. They showed me the most love and kindness anyone has ever shown me.

During my father’s last days battling lung cancer, I was a mess. I looked like a lifeless body walking around the hospital. When I asked the doctor for a prognosis, he said without an ounce of empathy, how my father was going to die. It was how he said it while he showed me a picture of a healthy lung vs my father’s. He said it angrily, as if I was troubling him for wasting his time with my nervous inquiry about his health. It was such a cold delivery. After that conversation, a nurse who saw me bawling outside of my dad’s room, grabbed my hand while I cried. She took me to sit down at the hospital’s chapel. I will never forget her kindness. ❤ May God bless nurses

“Being transparent about the benefits and risks of a procedure” definitely doesn’t include any comments about beauty or bikinis. What was stopping him from saying “we’ll be able to operate and remove the lesions from your skin, but some scarring will be inevitable” rather than passing a judgement on the aesthetics of swimwear, acting with a degree of professionalism? Infuriating just to listen to, can’t imagine having to sit there and bear hearing it from the surgeon

No one deserves that. That lack of empathy makes me so angry. That's so damn pointless. Edit: there is a difference between not telling the truth to a patient, and not having basic tact. The same subject could have been worded as "this may never fully go away." There is absolutely no excuse for any further cruelty.

I'm a nursing student this brought tears to my eyes. Schooling to become a nurse is so stressful and just difficult, it's easy to get so wrapped up but people like her are why I want to still be a nurse. Some people won't appreciate your work, but the people who do will never forget you.

The nurses who cared for me when I had a brain tumor were the reason why I continued my treatments, they gave me hope and met me with so much kindness and love. Nurses truly are amazing, and im so glad this woman has their support despite the horrific doctor
