I learned from Chef Peppin that if you add a slice of stale French bread under the Apple it tastes like a pie crust after cooking it soaks up some of those juices and caramelizes. Just an added touch! I’ve made these many times like that. So good!

I made a variation with instant oatmeal, and mixed cinnamon and sugar into some butter and put a dollop on top o each apple. Makes the house smell sweet too!
